Caroline Docwra

Director of Exhibitions and Programs
Houston Center for Photography, Houston, TX, USA
Caroline Docwra is currently the Director of Exhibitions and Programs at the Houston Center for Photography and has been with the organization for the past six years. She recently curated the exhibitions, Travelogues, with Nathan Hoang, Sara Macel, and Natalie Slater and co-curated Teresa Munisteri’s Strangers to Darkness. Caroline oversees exhibitions, artist lectures, panel discussions, and workshops related to exhibitions for the organization.

Caroline is interested in seeing work to be considered for exhibition at HCP, for public lectures, and to be published in Spot Magazine. She would prefer to see work that has not been previously exhibited or is scheduled to be shown in Houston. Complete bodies of work are ideal, but she also considers it a privilege to hear about and see new ideas and recent starts. She is currently looking for work relating to public or social issues, female perspectives, self-portraiture, using contemporary themes with alternative processes, and work with humorous narratives.

HCP's mission is to increase society's understanding and appreciation of photography and its evolving role in contemporary culture. HCP strives to encourage artists, build audiences, stimulate dialogue, and promote inquiry about photography and related media through education, exhibitions, publications, fellowship programs, and community collaboration.
