Elizabeth Avedon

Elizabeth Avedon is an independent curator; and editor for “L’oeil de la Photographie,” profiling notable leaders in the world of photography. She has received awards and recognition for her photography exhibition design and publishing projects, including the retrospective exhibition and book, Avedon: Photographs 1949-1979 for the Metropolitan Museum of Art; Dallas Museum of Fine Arts; and Richard Avedon: In the American West for the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth; the Corcoran Gallery of Art; and The Art Institute of Chicago; among many others; recently curating several exhibitions at New York's Leica Gallery.
Former Director of Photo-Eye Gallery, Santa Fe; Creative Director for The Gere Foundation; Art Director for Polo Ralph Lauren; Elizabeth was on the international panel of judges for THE FENCE, an outdoor photographic installation presented across multiple cities; juror for Magenta Foundation’s FlashForward Emerging Photographers; reviewer for The New York Times Lens Portfolio Review; Photolucida; LensCulture Awards; New York Photo Festival Portfolio Review; Critical Mass; Review Santa Fe; Filter Photo Festival; and ASMP-NY. Elizabeth teaches in the BFA Photography program and in the Masters in Digital Photography program at The School of Visual Arts, New York.
As both and editor, book designer and consultant, Ms. Avedon can offer advice on editing, sequencing and overall improving work in progress, as well as the possibility of promoting emerging photographers work.
Ms. Avedon is interested in reviewing exceptional photography, cohesive bodies of work with a unique perspective; fine art, portraiture, documentary, photojournalism – most everything except abstract work.
