Dennis Kiel

Dishman Art Museum @ Lamar University, Beaumont, TX, USA
Dennis Kiel is Director of the Dishman Art Museum, which is located on the campus of Lamar University. Established in 1983, the Dishman Art Museum serves as a teaching facility that hosts new and innovative exhibitions by faculty, students, and nationally known artists. The museum is a showplace that contributes significantly to the cultural opportunities of the region.

Before joining the Dishman, Mr. Kiel was Chief Curator at The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of Photography and Film in Charlotte, NC. Prior to his appointment at TLF, he served as Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Cincinnati Art Museum for 24 years. He also taught the history of photography at Northern Kentucky University as an adjunct professor.

Mr. Kiel is interested in looking at basically all areas of photography, especially street photography, photojournalism, and portraiture. He is not interested in reviewing commercial work (primarily advertising).

Mr. Kiel is looking for work to exhibit at the Dishman Art Museum (he is hoping to add more photography to the museum’s exhibition schedule). He can offer inspiration, advice on exhibitions, as well as proper presentation. He can also help photographers find a direction that will take their work to the next level.
