Elda Harrington

Founder and Director

Elda Harrington was born and raised in Buenos Aires. She graduated as a lawyer and was a professor at Buenos Aires University. Ms. Harrington has been involved in the world of photography since 1984. She is a photographer, curator, teacher and she has worked in the field of photography for more than 25 years.

Mrs. Harrington is the founder and director of Encuentros Abiertos-Festival de la Luz. The photo biennale that takes place in 45 cities in Argentina during August and September. The next biennial will take place in 2016.

Mrs. Harrington is the director of the “Escuela Argentina de Fotografia” for the last 28 years, and the President of Luz Austral Foundation, which was created in 1999 to promote photography by organizing the Encuentros Abiertos, editing books and catalogues and organizing exhibitions in Argentina and abroad. Mrs. Harrington is an international curator. She is invited to many festivals to review portfolios and to present lectures on “Photography in Argentina.”

Silvia Mangialardi

Silvia Mangialardi has been dedicated to photography since 1980. She was founder and director of Ediciones Fotográficas Argentina, and from 1984 to 2012, she was the director of Fotomundo, Argentine Photography magazine founded in 1966.

She has edited books and curated numerous national and international exhibitions. As a journalist he has interviewed many of the most important figures in contemporary photography. These reports have been published in Argentina and abroad. She is mostly interested in reviewing art photography, but she is also interest in seeing documentary photography. She is not interested in seeing commercial work.

She is looking for works that might be exposed during the next Festival in Argentina, August 2016. The theme is “traces of Unreality”. She is also looking to find new finished projects to promote in her country and in Latin America.
