The Foundation was established in 1979 in accordance with the testament of Erna and Victor Hasselblad. The main aim of the Foundation is to promote research and academic teaching in photography and the natural sciences. This is achieved through the awarding of one of the most renowned international awards in photography, The Hasselblad Award, as well as scholarships in photography and donations and grants for scientific research. The Hasselblad Foundation presents five exhibitions per year at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg. The exhibition program spans from established to emerging photographers. At the core of the Hasselblad Foundation is a photography collection mainly containing works by Hasselblad Award Winners and Nordic photographers.
