Artist Bio

Nancy Newberry is an internationally known Texas artist whose work explores the interplay between individuality and social affiliation. She has received many honors, including the 2013 Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña Prize, Madrid; 2015 Kolga Award for Best Documentary Photo, Tbilisi, Georgia; and 2014 PhotoVisa Award, Krasnodar, Russia. Her work has been shown in the 2012 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition, National Portrait Gallery, London, and at FotoFest in Discoveries of the Meeting Place (2012) and in Talent in Texas IV, Nowhere Near Here: New Photographic Work by Texas Artists (2011).

Newberry’s photographs are in the permanent collections of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Centro de Arte Alcobendas, Madrid, and have been exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, and China. In her constant pursuit of new work, she can be found chasing tumbleweeds between Dallas and Marfa.
