Artist Bio

A 2012 Guggenheim Foundation Fellow, Dornith Doherty was born in Houston and received a B.A., cum laude, from Rice University and a M.F.A in photography from Yale University. She has also received grants from the Fulbright Foundation, Japan Foundation, and U.S. Department of the Interior. Her work, which has been shown and collected extensively in the United States and Europe, was included in recent exhibitions at the Tucson Museum of Art (2013); Bluecoat, Liverpool (2013); Museum Belvédère, Heerenveen/Oranjewoud, the Netherlands (2012); New Mexico Museum of Art, Santa Fe (2011); and Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain (2011). Doherty is represented by Moody Gallery in Houston and by Holly Johnson Gallery in Dallas. She currently resides in Southlake, Texas, and is a professor of photography at the University of North Texas, Denton. Her work is included in the FotoFest 2016 central exhibition, Changing Circumstances: Looking at the Future of the Planet.
