Ewa Monika Zebrowski’s artistic work engages with the themes of displacement and memory, time
and place, and the traces we leave behind. She creates visual narratives often inspired by literature,
sometimes collaborating with writers and poets. Zebrowski was born in London, the daughter of
Polish immigrants. She worked in the film industry for seventeen years before obtaining a B.F.A.
and a M.A. in visual art. Her photographic work and artist’s books can be found in many public and
private collections in Canada, the United States, and abroad, including those of the Art Gallery of
Ontario, Toronto; Farnsworth Art Museum, Rockland, Maine; The Menil Collection, Houston; Museum
of Fine Arts, Houston; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; National Museum of Women
in the Arts, Washington, D.C.; Musee d’Art Contemporain de Montreal; Tate Britain, London; and
Saison Poetry Library, London, as well as thirty colleges and universities collections. She has had
twenty-five solo exhibitions, produced fourteen artist’s books, and won numerous awards. In 2014
she was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. Zebrowski lives in Montreal with her
husband and two sons.
