Artist Bio

Nikita Pirogov is an artist and poet born in 1989 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He works with photography, poetry, and their interaction, while exploring themes of multicultural communication, empathy, and philosophy in both Western and Eastern traditions. Pirogov’s work has been exhibited widely in Russia and abroad, including the exhibitions Contemporary Russian Photography: 1950s-2012 (2012), FotoFest Biennial, Houston; Life Is Elsewhere (2013), Dali International Photography Exhibition, Yunnan, China; Hope and Faith (2014), Encontros da Imagem, Braga, Portugal; Language of Memory (2015), Photovisa International Festival of Photography, Krasnodar, Russia; and others, including exhibitions in France, South Korea, Slovakia, Italy, Russia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland. Pirogov has recently been honored with prizes at international portfolio reviews in Bratislava, Slovakia; Vienna; Moscow; and the Dali International Photography Exhibition, Yunnan, China. He was awarded first place in the Kurekhin’s Prize competition organized by the Russian literature-critical almanac Translit in 2013 in the category of textologies. His works are held in private collections in the United States, France, Germany, and Russia. Pirogov lives and works in Russia and Thailand.
